Home 574 Magazine

As project manager at Truth Publishing, one of my first tasks was to elevate the production value of The Elkhart Truth’s niche magazines.

These publications started as tabloid inserts, produced twice a year and filled with canned content. They had just moved to a glossy magazine format shortly before I arrived, and needed help thinking about the content and the design in a different way.

Home 574, formerly known as Home Projects, was one such magazine.

We started by replacing the canned content with local stories and expanded the concept of “home” to include neighborhood and design. I worked closely with the designers to create a more polished aesthetic, changed how we treated coverlines and established a standard for how ads and editorial were placed. I counseled the sales staff on how to shift from advertorials to more sophisticated content marketing offerings.

The spring 2014 issue, Home Projects, and fall 2014 issue, Home 574, were also created as digital magazines on elkharttruth.com. The spring 2015 issue of Home 574 can be viewed here as a PDF.
